As a summer house, the main goal is not only to design the interior spaces but also to organize and make the most of the exterior space. The interiors are conceived to integrate seamlessly with the surroundings, extending their influence to the surroundings and views.
Inspired by the traditional tancas of Menorca, the plot is organized through a spatial layout that is entirely walkable, with orthogonal lines combining pavements, flower beds, water features, trees, plants, tancas, pergolas, walls, and the house itself. This approach allows each element to have a specific function and its own identity within a harmonious whole, offering a rich variety of outdoor spaces that balance the property’s space.
Located in the center of the plot, the house divides the exterior space into two main areas: one in the front and one in the back. The house’s hall, with its wide lateral openings, acts as a transitional element between the interior and exterior. The exterior pavement extends to connect the backyard with the main porch, creating a fluid continuity between both spaces.
Following the tradition of Menorcan lattices, sliding panels with fixed wooden slats have been designed to filter the light from outside, providing privacy and solar protection, while also expanding the possibilities for use. The vertical slats on the east and west facades are combined with horizontal ones on the south facade. Most of these floor-to-ceiling openings allow for a continuous connection with the exterior and maximize the beauty of the property’s views.

“Menorca’s walls, built with dry stone and whitewashed, are a symbol of local architecture.”

“Following the Menorcan tradition, we painted the house white because it purifies the spaces, reflects sunlight and keeps the interiors cool in summer.”
“The aluminum lattice stands as the protagonist of the house, providing character, continuity and privacy.”

“Creating strategic visuals in the house is essential to connect the interior spaces with the surroundings, enhancing brightness, spaciousness and the relationship with the landscape.”
