Flat Reform on Escuelas Pias Street

Barcelona, 2007-2008

Architect: Pablo Serrano Elorduy

Interior Designer: Blanca Elorduy

Surface: 178 m2

Changing the old concept of the house, eliminating several doors, replacing other by sliding ones, in order to create stays more continuous and spacious.
One of the interior walls seems to unfold through all the common rooms. At the entrance is modulated with lacquered wood panels, creating a tally of glass, to flow the natural light into the hall.  The rooms entrances are marked with a setback, led lighting on the floor and painting doors in sand color. The wall unfolds again and enter in the living room coated with the same oak aged used on the pavement, giving extra warmth to the stay. We achieve a unifying element relating all the main areas in the flat.

All the windows are replaced by new external joinery of natural wood, and a new pavement of oak aged is placed in all the flat, including the baths and the kitchen. It eliminates the room service and the outside laundry, generating a unique kitchen and laundry area, more spacious and lighted, forming a work cooking island with city views, used also for breakfast. Throughout the house is used a combination with white, grey and earthy colors of different shades, which combine with the wood trim and oak aging pavement give the flat a natural and pleasant mood. The stones cushions are placed at the end of the corridor view, enhancing the nature atmosphere.
